Who is Angelle Whavers? – What is Angelle Whavers? – Why is Angelle Whavers?

Angelle Whavers, a proud Newark native, is a creative force armed with a degree in Theater and History from Drew University. Her knack for storytelling is deeply rooted in her Newark upbringing, infusing her theater work with undeniable hometown pride. Angelle made her mark by co-writing for the innovative show 4320p: Immersion with the Tectonic Theater Project and presenting her full-length play, Incubator, at the New York Theater Festival.
As one of her proudest accomplishments, Angelle snagged a win at the 2020 New Play-Reading Festival at The Growing Stage in Netcong, NJ. This lead to a production of her winning play, Boogie, hitting the stage in February 2022. The following year, her play Collar’d (formerly known as The Oreos) became a part of Keegan Theatre’s Boiler Room Series and the inaugural North to Shore Festival.
During this, she co-found the theater company Unidentified Stages with her sister Alicia Whavers. Through the company they have worked to produce readings and workshops both live and virtual.
Moving to her performance side, Angelle has written and performed for Parody in Blue’s live performances of Year of Woman 3 (2018),and Grab Them By The Parody! (2019), as well as the 2020 virtual shows entitled: 19th Amendment: 100 Years of Suffrage, How to Succeed in Politics Without Even Leaving Your Couch!, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Country. In addition, she has writtened and performed for From Uterus: Stories form You to Us, a show created from the efforts of both Unidentified Stages and Red Mic Repertory Company.
In her downtime, Angelle appreciates the animated arts (cartoons), choose-your-own adventure experiences (video games), and the written word (fantasy books). One food she would never live without is the potato, and she is a proud Ravenclaw as well as a member of the Athena cabin according to internet quizzes.
